M’cr PE Association recruiting new Chairperson
The Manchester School’s PE Association is seeking to appoint an experienced, committed and passionate chairperson to lead the organisations drive to achieve charitable status by September 2018 and to achieve our vision. Our chair will demonstrate a strong and visible passion and commitment to the charity, its strategic objectives and cause and will have the personal gravitas to lead a significant regional organisation
The Association currently runs the largest school competition programme and achieves the highest levels of school age participation in PE and Sport in the UK. This work is underpinned by a broader commitment to Empower Young People to take on leadership roles that will inspire them, whilst also increasing their levels of employability, confidence and resilience. The Association has developed a clear vision statement;
“Using the power of PE and sport to develop, grow and engage the next generation of Mancunians”
Manchester School’s PE Association has recognised that to achieve this it must achieve charitable status and further grow its sphere of influence in relation to key partnerships, networks, funding and internal structure.
We are seeking a chairperson who can demonstrate the following experience
- Experience of operating at a senior strategic leadership level within an organisation
- Personal experience of or linkages with the sport or health sectors
- Successful track record of achievement through their career
- Experience of charity governance and working with or as part of a Board of Trustees
- Experience of external representation, delivering presentations and managing stakeholders
- Significant experience of chairing meetings and events.
In addition, the successful candidate will have broad knowledge and understanding of the Civil Society sector and current issues affecting it, strong leadership skills, the ability to motivate staff and volunteers and bring people together, financial management expertise and a broad understanding of charity finance issues and a good understanding of charity governance issues.
